AAF Football Games on TV Today


Week 8 of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) season wraps up with two games on Sunday, March 31. A pair of conference rematches are on tap as the playoff races come into focus with just three weeks left in the regular season.

 

So if you’re wondering, “What football games are on today?” know this: There are two scheduled for Sunday, March 31.

 

Atlanta Legends (2-5) at Birmingham Iron (4-3)

4 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network — Legion Field (Birmingham, Ala.)

Why You Should Watch: Since winning two in a row in Weeks 4 and 5, Atlanta has been outscored 73-12 in its last two games. Offense continues to be a struggle for the Legends. Aaron Murray and Chris Simms have combined for 12 interceptions compared to just five touchdowns and as a team, Atlanta has totaled two rushing touchdowns in seven games. If the Legends want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to win on Sunday. Birmingham is coming off of a 31-25 loss to Memphis, the first overtime game in AAF history. The Iron didn’t turn the ball over against the Express, but Luis Perez was just 16-for-37 passing and was sacked three times. Trent Richardson leads the league with 10 rushing touchdowns but he’s averaging just 2.6 yards per carry and Birmingham is dead last in the league in rushing (74 ypg). The Iron beat the Legends 28-12 back in Week 3 as Richardson had three touchdowns (but just 46 rushing yards).

 

Arizona Hotshots (4-3) at San Antonio Commanders (5-2)

8 p.m. ET on NFL Network — Alamodome (San Antonio)

Why You Should Watch: First place in the Western Conference will be on the line in the Alamodome. Arizona has won two in a row, including last week’s 32-15 victory over San Diego. John Wolford leads the AAF with 13 touchdown passes and is second in yards with 1,400. The Hotshots piled up 189 rushing yards last week and lead the league with nearly 150 on the ground per game. San Antonio is the league’s hottest team, winners of four in a row, and can basically sew up a playoff spot with a win on Sunday night. The Commanders have won the close games (three victories by four points or fewer) and can blow teams out, like they did in a 37-6 rout of Atlanta in Week 6. One key for San Antonio has been the big plays on defense. The Commanders are first in the league in interceptions (13), second in sacks (21), and have produced three defensive touchdowns. San Antonio won the first meeting, beating Arizona 29-25 on the road in Week 5.

UK woman believed to be oldest female World War II veteran dead at 108

Anne Robson, who was believed to be the oldest living female World War II veteran, has died at 108 in Scotland . Robson lived through radical changes leading up to the turn of the millennia: women’s suffrage, two world wars, 20 prime ministers, four monarchs, a man landing on the moon and the technological revolution, not two mention four personalized birthday cards from the queen. Born Gladys Anne Logan MacWatt on Sept. 14, 1911, the centenarian was training as a physiotherapist in 1933 before becoming a teacher later that year, according to the Women’s Royal Army Corps Association  (WRAC). Robson was teaching when World War II broke out. She quickly decided to join the women’s branch of the British Army, the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), in 1942. Robson first served as a physical training instructor and later rose to the rank of Senior Commander as Assistant Inspector in ATS Physical Training.
